Please remember to cover your shoulders and knees on this tour and leave a big backpack at home. Students please bring your student ID with you.
In the winter months from November - February (except Christmas season) please try to book your tour on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday in order to make sure that the tour will take place. If those days don't suit you please still get in touch and we will try to accommodate you as of course we do want you to book with us.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
ASK THE PRICE BEFORE YOU SIT FOR COFFEE OR EVEN LUNCH IN FRONT OF THE Vatican Museums
The Vatican museums are closed on August 15!
Good to know
DRESS CODE: Knees and shoulders must be covered at all times for the entire duration of this tour.
We always pass the public crowds waiting to get inside the Vatican Museums.
Please try to avoid booking mondays and saturdays because they are the most crowded days in the Vatican state. When the Pope is in town holding the General Audience in the morning even Wednesday afternoons can be very busy. If you need to book these days we have ways of avoiding those crowds but it is a good idea to avoid these days anyhow. "Better to avoid a problem than to solve it"
The fee for the full Vatican tour will include the entrance fee as well as the reservation fee which allows us to skip the entire public line. We will use the tour agency line every day which guarantees no waiting in the public queue. That's smart.
What's included in our Vatican Tour?
The Vatican Museums, Raphael Rooms, Maps room, tapestries room, so many “stolen” Greek and Roman and Egyptian statues your head will spin. Don't worry though because we have ways of making this interesting without dumping it down.
Then you will see the Sistine Chapel, most time will be spent seeing the Chapel and talking about it.
After a short break we then enter St. Peter's Basilica. Believe it or not most people end up liking this the most.
In St. Peter's Basilica we take a full walk around its shape (when possible), we reveal the most amazing secrets of the Basilica and its art, doorways, mosaics, altars and then finally the most amazing piece of art inside St. Peter's Basilica, the Pieta by Michelangelo.
After the Basilica we take you to the Pope's Audience area to reveal St. Peter's Square which is so interesting it could be a tour on its own.
Unpredictable but possible, a closure of St Peter's Basilica:
We do try to warn you in advance and reschedule you, but it can happen that the Pope decides to use and close the basilica to the public, for a few hours or even the entire day. In this case the guide will spend more time with you inside the museums and talk about the basilica from there. As St Peter's Square might be packed, too, we would also leave you inside the museums so you could go back to the rooms you have seen on the route. The duration of the tour will remain the same.
Waiting times to the basilica and also closures are unpredictable, we do encourage you to visit the basilica on your own before our tour or just afterwards (the entrance is entirely free), the usual opening hours are
(November - March)
Mon - Sun, 7 am - 6.30 pm;
(April - October)
Mon - Sun, 7 am - 7 pm
best times to visit are early in the morning and late in the afternoon.
Combine it with a climb of the cupola of St. Peter's Basilica, the view is worth the exercise!
skip the line
Some of our competitors say that no one can pass lines, or have tickets prepaid etc, that's only because they can't offer this service. We do pass the public line.
Other companies will offer to bring you to the museums later in the day, hoping there won't be a public line. You can never depend on public lines, that's why we always book tickets in advance.
This tour lasts around about 3.5 hours from the time we enter the museums to the time we say goodbye to you.
Our meeting point
Although the tour starts at 1 p.m. some folks might be a bit late but we do employ young Irish students whose job it is to wait for you. They will then get you into the museums to your group.
But please don't be too late and if you like you can tip for this service if you need to use it.
Our 1 p.m. meeting point is on our map, we meet on the steps across the road from the Vatican Museums entrance, that's the corner of Viale Vaticano / Via Tunisi.
You can easily find us as the guide will be holding a yellowish umbrella with pictures of angels on it.
Please do not worry if the tour starts late, on busy days it can easily take 20-30 minutes to get your headsets (to work), go through security check, redeem the reservation for your tickets and let you use the restrooms before the tour starts. The tour will not be shortened.
We can skip the public line but not security and bathroom lines lol.
