Wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water (in summer even a hat). Water bottles/drinks need to be emptied/finished before we enter the Colosseum (also sealed bottles), security regulations currently don’t allow anyone to bring any liquids/sprays inside (sun blocker, cremes, lotions, … )- like at the airport. It is possible to fill up a water bottle for free once inside the Colosseum. (status August 15,2016)
Skip the line
We meet every day on the upper level of the COLOSSEO metro station which is the terrace above the station. Our guide will be holding a yellowish umbrella with angels on it.
We use the fast-track reservation system so as to minimize waiting times.
You can use Roma Pass and the Archeologia Card. You can buy Roma Pass inside the Colosseum metro stop. But don't depend on that as they sell out fast.
When you arrive at the Colosseum metro stop, go inside, turn left and find the escalator going up to meet your Angel.
We DO go inside the Colosseum. We WILL pass the ticket line.
What's included in this tour?
The tour will start with entering the Colosseum without waiting in the ticket line, then we will take you on a walk up the Palatine Hill, then through the Roman Forum, the heart of the Ancient City of Romulus and Remus and the Roman Empire.
From its mythical beginnings to the rise of Christianity, bringing to life the numerous ruins of over 2600 years of history, we will explore the politics, religions and myths of this great civilization leading into the most famous of the city's monuments.
This entire tour takes around 2.5 - 3 hours.
New SECURITY REGULATIONS implemented recently can especially in high season cause long long lines at the entrance to the Colosseum. We can skip the ticket line but not security, leave big backpacks and any luggage at your hotel, there is no storage facility at the Colosseum. Small handbags for your camera, a bottle of water etc are fine.
Water bottles/drinks need to be emptied/finished before we enter the Colosseum (also sealed bottles), the sight currently doesn’t allow anyone to bring any liquids/sprays inside (sun blocker, cremes, lotions, …) - like at the airport.

For these reasons we will start with the Colosseum to avoid those crowds early in the morning and try to minimize waiting times, we finish with the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill from where you have a beautiful view over Ancient Rome. Of course we will still give you enough time in the Colosseum to take pictures and listen to your guide's stories.
First Sunday of the month
The entrance on the first (!) Sunday of the month is free, while despite the crowds that day we can still skip the ticket line, the security check line can be worse than the line to the Vatican museums.
We don't want you to wait in this line for hours and have you suffering in the heat or cold, and have therefore decided NOT to offer this tour on the first (!) Sunday of the month. Please book Saturday or Monday instead, thanks
If you book the Eco City Tour, the Heart Of Rome tour, the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel and the Colosseum/Ancient Rome tour you have seen just about everything worth seeing. We will offer the Heart of Rome tour for free if you book all these combinations in any order.
